Presbyterians believe the chief end of human beings is to glorify God and enjoy God forever. The worship of God is, therefore, central to our life as a church. We gather every Sunday at 11:00 a.m. We invite you to share with us in this worship.
Our Order of Worship
Our worship follows the traditional order of Presbyterian worship. To give you a quick orientation, it proceeds in five stages:
Our gathering for worship: We begin with a call to worship, a hymn, a prayer of the day, and a confession of sin. Our confession of sin recognizes that as Christians, we always come before God as forgiven sinners.
Our listening to the Word of God: In this stage we listen for the Word of God as it is read to us from the Bible and as it is preached in our sermon.
Our response to God’s Word: We respond to God through our affirmation of faith, our offerings to God, and our congregational prayers.
Our enactment of the Word: On some Sundays, we enact the Word of God in our church’s sacraments of baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
Our sending out into the world: We close by singing a hymn, hearing the charge to serve God in our daily lives, and receiving God’s blessing.
Participation in the Lord’s Supper
We celebrate the Lord’s Supper (Holy Communion) on the first Sunday of the month. At communion time, our elders will pass the tray of bread to you. Please take one piece, pass the tray on, and keep the bread in your hand until all have received. We then eat together. The elders will then pass you the tray of the wine/grape juice. The cups in the center two rows of the tray contain non-alcoholic grape juice. The outer rows contain wine. Please take one cup, keep it in your hand, until we all partake together.
Children in Worship
We always welcome children in our worship. To parents of young children, may we suggest you relax. God put the wiggle in children. Don’t feel you must suppress it.
If you feel it necessary to take your child out during the service, you may want to walk with them at the back of the church. There is also a small nursery on the second floor where your child can roam and play with some freedom.
